‘No ambiguity’ Liverpool have ‘significant interest’ in Thiago
Liverpool have ‘significant interest’ in Thiago.
Melissa Reddy from the Independent has written an in-depth piece about the transfer speculation that continues to link the Spaniard with a move to Merseyside.
Thiago is still playing in the Champions League for Bayern Munich, and we probably won’t get clarity on that situation until after the final.
Paris Saint-Germain will take on Munich on Sunday night and so we could see some exciting movement early into next week.
Reddy wrote that Liverpool ‘are significantly interested’ in the 29-year-old and that there is ‘no ambiguity that Jurgen Klopp is a great admirer’ of the former Barcelona star.
Interestingly, she also confirmed that finances wouldn’t be an issue in this deal – something that might take a few observers by surprise.
"She wrote: “The Spain international is enthused by a move to Anfield and while his cost of around £30m and top-bracket wages would be weighty in a coronavirus-affected market when there is still so much up in the air around income next season, finance is not the key determining factor over a deal.”"
Owners Fenway Sports Group have been criticised for their perceived aversion to spending money, especially after the team failed to make any big signings before last season’s Premier League campaign.

The only people who came through the door was free agent Adrian and young Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg.
However things are changing. Kostas Tsimikas was signed from Greek side Olypmiacos in order to supplement the left-back position, although his fee was basically covered by the sale of Dejan Lovren to Zenit St. Petersberg.
As most Liverpool fans believed already, Reddy also confirmed that Thiago coming in would be unlikely unless there were some midfield departures – although there’s no guarantee of that happening.
Gini Wijanldum is into the last year of his contract and he could be one that leaves; essentially swapping his place in the side with Thiago.
Wijnaldum’s boss for the Netherlands is Ronald Koeman, the man who has just been appointed as manager for Barcelona. Spain was mentioned as a possible destination for Gini, who could continue his career under Koeman.
"Reddy wrote: “It would not be a far-fetched scenario that Wijnaldum could agree a pre-contract with Barca or another suitor in January, with Thiago swapping in – if no-one swoops in for him this window.”"
The deal to bring in Thiago has dragged on for a long time, but these reports are the most promising of the lot and seem to indicate a willingness from all parties to get the transfer done.
