Liverpool fans are fantasizing over Patson Daka.

The striker came through the domestic system in Zambia between 2014 and 2017 as he spent time with Nchanga Rangers, Green Buffaloes, Kafue Celtic and Power Dynamos before making the move to Europe.

After landing at FC Liefering, the striker moved on to RB Salzburg and has been in fine form ever since.

Patson Daka has experienced his best ever season, scoring 24 goals in the Austrian Bundesliga in just 31 games.

He was linked with a move to Liverpool by Far Post, and that rumour has set chins wagging. Daka has been explosive during 2019/2020 and hit a number of career milestones, playing in his first Champions League campaign and scoring 20+ goals for the first time in his European career.

Fans might be excited and might already have started dreaming about what Jurgen Klopp could turn this forward into, but we need to consider the balance of the squad first.

While Daka and Takumi Minamino did play together, they’d have to compete for much of the same role within the current set-up. They may also have to fight with Rhian Brewster for a place in the side, as we’ve seen little movement on his future.

The Zambian is a good player and has the type of game intelligence, positional awareness and finishing skill that Klopp always looks for in his forwards – said Liverpool.com – but that might not be enough for him to secure a deal.

One thing’s for sure, the club are going to have to sell before they buy and this doesn’t seem like the market for sales. Liverpool have been struggling to shift players like Harry Wilson, Marko Grujic, Ben Woodburn and maybe Divock Origi.

Will Liverpool sign Patson Daka? Probably not within the next couple of weeks, and certainly not before the club can shift a few out the door.
