Liverpool fans have questioned the latest transfer deal.
Despite the transfer window closing, sporting director Michael Edwards was able to get this deal over the line – but not everyone is happy with it.
Liverpool were very quiet as the clock ticked down and bids failed to come through for several fringe players. Xherdan Shaqiri, for one, was expected to leave but suitors who were willing to meet the asking price were thin on the ground.
He’s since been diagnosed with COVID-19, which may have had something to do with it.
The arrivals of Diogo Jota, Thiago and Kostas Tsimikas have plugged gaps in the squad and Liverpool look well placed to attack the Premier League once more.
Several players were moved on as Edwards looked to balance the books as the club brought in £30 million for Rhian Brewster and Ki-Jana Hoever.
One man looked to be staying at Liverpool until the winter transfer window at least, and thus sacrificing a whole season of his career.
Nobody wants to do that, but for young players it can be terminal. Luckily for Marko Grujic, he’s found himself a home for the season. Not everyone is pleased.
This guy should have been allowed and given the chance and opportunity to stay. He's done well and matured enough to make the team. I still don't understand.

not sure why we've done this. more valuable to have depth and competition, especially in a team that let in 7 against fuckin Asston Villa.

The Serbian has joining Porto on a season-long loan deal, although there’s no obligation to buy included within that transfer.
Marko Grujic played well in his two Carabao Cup appearances and that led to some supporters wanting the midfielder to stick around and provide competition for places.
Realistically, his time at Anfield was up. He’s got Thiago, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, James Milner, Gini Wijnaldum, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones ahead of him in the pecking order.
At 24, Grujic can’t afford to stagnate this season and still has hopes that he’ll be able to carve a path for himself under Jurgen Klopp – tweeted Athletic journalist James Pearce.
