Liverpool could sell a midfielder this week.

The domestic transfer window is open until Friday evening and that means the Reds could still get a few deals done.

While we’ve seen loan moves for Adam Lewis, Marko Grujic, Morgan Boyes and Kamil Grabara, there are still players who are too good for U23 football but can’t reach the level required to make Jurgen Klopp’s first team.

Sporting director Michael Edwards now has a few days left to engineer moves for those stuck in that purgatory, and there are a few.

Sepp van den Berg is trapped between the levels and has seen Rhys Williams and Billy Koumetio overtake him in the pecking order – while bigger names like Harry Wilson face a season frozen out of the side.

One of these is Herbie Kane.

The midfielder is wanted by Hull City after impressing on loan during their ill-fated Championship campaign, said the Echo.

Herbie Kane impressed at League One level when he played 49 games for Doncaster, scoring seven goals and registering 10 assists.

If the Tigers can land their man, it’ll go some way to helping them get back to the second tier. Kane is proven at that level and showed he can handle the rough and tumble of the Championship, which makes his lack of offers a little surprising.

It’s time to see the youngster move on and get the first team football that he needs. There’s clearly a footballer in there, but he’ll never reach the heights required of a Klopp midfielder, at least not by staying with the U23s.

Who knows how he might develop in the next few years given the chance, but it won’t happen while he stays at Melwood and a permanent move away would be best for all parties.

Do you think Kane moving to Hull would be good for Liverpool?
