Left-back: Andy Robertson

With Kostas Tsimikas still missing in action, there’s only one option at left-back and that’s Andy Robertson. Gone are the days of James Milner featuring there, so Robbo it is.

Centre-back: Joe Gomez

Joe Gomez had a pretty decent outing against Sheffield United and he’ll most likely partner Fabinho in the heart of defense.

His form has picked up since the Everton game and Gomez now looks like the man we know and love. That partnership with Fabinho looks like it’ll be the one Klopp favours over the long-term as Matip never looks likely to string a run of games together.

Centre-back: Fabinho

With Virgil van Dik out, Fabinho will certainly feature at centre-back.

The Brazilian has done well in the past few games, making a match-rescuing clearance against Ajax and will be looking to put in an impressive display against Midtjylland too.

Along with his tackling and defensive skills, his long-passing could come in handy as well.

Right back: Neco Williams

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been asked to play a lot of football over the last couple of months and the risk of burnout is running incredibly high.

Neco Williams hasn’t featured since early in the season but Klopp trusts him and decided not to sign a more senior option for that very reason.

Midtjylland are the weakest side in the Champions League draw and therefore the safest option for picking Williams. He’s gone through a little bumpy period, but we all know he’s a good prospect and this will be another time for him to prove it.
