Left-central midfield: Gini Wijnaldum

Gini Wijnaldum will have to start again, just because there aren’t many other options out there. James Milner played against Ajax but looked off the pace and could be a candidate for inclusion here, but Wijnaldum is so important to Klopp and will probably continue.

Curtis Jones is another that could come into the side, and the manager will probably consider something like that to keep the rest of the side fit and ready to go on the weekend.

Defensive midfield: Jordan Henderson

With Klopp deploying a 4-2-3-1 against United, the midfield selection will be complicated even with the present absentees.

Jordan Henderson will definitely start and the captain will be eager to aid the team defensively and offensively. Since the start of last season, Liverpool have pretty much always performed well when the 30-year-old is on the pitch. His long balls is something the attackers can always rely on.

Right-central midfield: Roberto Firmino

For the third midfield spot, I’m going for Roberto Firmino. There’s a fair chance Klopp might opt for a 4-2-3-1 again so he could field the Brazilian as an attacking midfielder. However, given the nature of their opposition on paper, he could also try Takumi Minamino in that position.

If Klopp opts for a 4-3-3, then there’s also the possibility of James Milner starting alongside Henderson and Wijnaldum.
