Here are the Liverpool player ratings from the Man City draw.

The Reds scored first but failed to hold onto their lead, and could have lost the game had Kevin de Bruyne been more accurate.

Mohamed Salah slotted home from the penalty stop before Gabriel Jesus equalized for Pep Guardiola’s men, and that’s how the game stayed as both sides slugged it out in the rain.

Joel Matip was returned to the starting side, as predicted earlier in the week, and played the full 90 minutes in an encouraging show of fitness, while Jurgen Klopp surprised onlookers by selecting four forwards in the starting lineup.

Much of the prematch discussion featured around whether Klopp would pick Roberto Firmino or Diogo Jota but he ended up throwing both into the team as the German played an attacking side.

And it paid off as Salah hit the back of the net from the penalty spot after just 13 minutes, but as the game continued Liverpool began to lose energy and couldn’t capitalize on that good start.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was forced off with an injury and he’ll definitely miss the next few England games. The right-back’s absence from the side for any significant period of time would be a series problem for Klopp to overcome.

Despite the failure to secure three points, Liverpool can be content with the result and where it leaves them in the league. Surprise duo Leicester City and Southampton are above the Reds, who sit in third, but their place at the summit is precarious. The Foxes are one point ahead of Liverpool, while the Saints are in second based on their superior goal difference.

But enough about the other sides, let’s kick on with the Liverpool player ratings from the City draw with Alisson Becker.

Alisson (7/10)

The Brazilian made a really good save to deny Raheem Sterling in the first half, and was excellent with his communication and passing. Alisson couldn’t do much about Jesus’s goal, and didn’t really have that much to do otherwise.
