Curtis Jones is developing nicely

With nine appearances under his belt already, Jones is starting to feel like a more established player. Four of those are in the Premier League, and he completed 90 minutes against Leicester City.

Jones is known as an attacking player, but here he didn’t look to get forward and score as much as you’d expect him too. There was one tremendous track-back and tackle as the youngster embodied Klopp’s mantra and what he wants from his midfield.

He’s now played in two of the last three Premier League games, as well as two of the three Champions League group games. That’s some fine experience that will help Jones develop as a player and challenge for a more permanent role in the side.

COVID-19 impacted football should hand out more minutes to youth footballers and could enable players like Neco Williams to get another few starts under his belt while Trent Alexander-Arnold is out injured and James Milner might be required in midfield.

We may look back on this season as a curious one. It could be the season that rips muscles from bone and leaves squads in tatters, but it could also supercharge the careers of several young players – Jones included.
