Ian Wright heaped praise on a Liverpool star following Sunday’s performance.

Liverpool’s first match following the international break was one which some expected them to lose due to their absentees. However, the Reds beat Leicester 3-0 at Anfield thanks to goals from Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and an own goal from Jonny Evans.

Firmino finally scored after a first half performance that frustrated many fans, but the Brazilian was largely overshadowed by his younger team-mate.

Jota, the 23-year-old Portuguese international, had a brilliant outing and he headed in Liverpool’s second goal from an Andy Robertson cross.

Jota thus became the first Reds player to score in his first four league matches for the club. He now has eight goals in 12 appearances since joining the Merseyside outfit from Wolves.

Wright was all praise for Jota’s form with Liverpool so far and tipped him to become even better. Speaking to Premier League Productions, the Arsenal legend said:

"“He’s just going to go to the next level, that’s what’s going to happen. He plays like a winger, he can get back and defend, he can take people on. He can do everything. It’s an inspired signing.”"

When Jota was signed from Wolves, most people thought he’d be a backup for Liverpool’s front three. However, the Portuguese international has had a brilliant start to his Reds spell and it seems that he will compete for a place in the starting XI.

Barring Mo Salah, no other Liverpool player has netted more goals this season than the 23-year-old, who also bagged a hat-trick against Atalanta in the Champions League. Jota’s presence will certainly give Klopp a selection dilemma but at the same time, a very good option who he can start or bring on as a substitute to have some significant impact.

After impressing against Leicester, it will be interesting to see if the attacker will start in the home leg against Atalanta on Wednesday as Salah could be back in the playing XI.
