Liverpool lineup vs Wolves: Alexander-Arnold starts, Jones dropped
This is the Liverpool lineup we think will take on Wolves on Sunday.
Premier League action resumes this weekend and Liverpool have a tricky meeting against Wolves at Anfield.
After booking their berth in the last 16 of the Champions League, Jurgen Klopp’s side will be eager to bag three points against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. Last season, Liverpool won both matches against them, beating them 2-0 and 2-1.
Wolves will be looking to register their first league win over the Reds since December 2010 and while they will be without their star-striker Raul Jimenez, they do have some quality players in their team who are capable of giving the hosts a run for their money.
On paper, Liverpool seems favourites to win but their opponents should certainly not be written off. A win for the Reds could see us reach the top of the Premier League table, provided Spurs are unable to beat Arsenal.
Wolves could have a good chance of entering the top four if they bag all three points, not to forget they’d be the first team to beat Liverpool in a league match at Anfield since 2017.
Now, let’s take a look at the Liverpool lineup we predict will take to the field.
Goalkeeper- Caoimhin Kelleher
Alisson is out for a few days due to a hamstring issue so he won’t be between the sticks on Sunday. Instead, it’ll be young Kelleher making his Premier League debut against Wolves ahead of Adrian.
The 22-year-old Irishman made his Champions League debut against Ajax and put in a pretty good performance as Liverpool won 1-0 and qualified for the last 16. Due to his solid display, there’s a very good chance Klopp will start him in goal ahead of the more experienced Adrian.
This season, Kelleher has featured in a few games for the reserves, keeping three clean sheets. He will almost certainly make his 6th appearance for the senior team and will be keen on putting on a good show.
Provided he’s able to keep a clean sheet or make some impressive saves, Kelleher will more or less confirm himself as Liverpool’s 2nd choice keeper ahead of Adrian.
However, the 22-year-old is bound to have a tough time against the likes of Pedro Neto, Daniel Podence and Adama Traore.
