The five Liverpool results that defined 2020

Chelsea 2-1 Man City
The most significant game for us in 2020 was a game that they were sitting together watching on television rather than playing. A game which Manchester City needed to win to stay in the hunt, albeit barely.
All Liverpool needed was for Pep Guardiola’s side to drop points. As luck would have it, Chelsea took the lead. The entire fanbase were on tenterhooks, they were about to witness history.
City pulled one back, but it was as good as useless. Fernandinho’s deliberate handball saw him get a red card and give away a penalty that was dispatched with disdain by Willian.
That goal secured Liverpool the Premier League title and the whole of Merseyside erupted in scenes of joy. We had fans gathering outside Anfield, letting off flairs and climbing up the lampposts. There wasn’t in grease in Greaseland to stop them all.
