The critics of Liverpool defender Ozan Kabak need a reality check.

Scaremongers have been waving around a report by Kicker, shared by Team Talk, that indicates how bad Kabak has been for Schalke this season.

The doubters have come crawling out of their spiderholes, foam flecks punctuating the corner of their mouths, waving around this piece of information like it’s the Doomsday Scroll.

These people need a reality check. Of course, Kabak has been poor this season, he’s a 20-year-old defender who was in the middle of Schalke’s worst ever season, standing at the back trying to marshall some sort of composure from a team that has been dying before our eyes for 18 months.

Liverpool made the right move for Ozan Kabak

Through anybody in that environment and they’d struggle to settle. This is a young man, who has enjoyed a steady rise through the ranks of European football, has already gone through a situation that most professionals will hope to avoid for their entire career.

Who cares if Kicker rated his half-campaign with S04 as nearly deficient? That experience will have given him the mental strength to get through anything, while the breath of fresh air that Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool will provide Kabak will be a kiss of life on a year that was rapidly running out of oxygen.

Don’t forget, this is a man who played one season of Bundesliga football for Stuttgart, was relegated and Bayern Munich still wanted him.

Kabak is a player with tremendous potential, who has been thoroughly scouted by Liverpool, and who could be signed for a true January bargain.

So don’t pay any attention to that half-season grade, or the people who are using it to attack a Liverpool signing before he’s played a minute of football for Klopp. Those scaremongers need a head wobble and a reality check.

dark. Next. Liverpool have ended Joel Matip’s stuttering career

In other news, Roberto Firmino was slammed for his performance against Brighton, but he wasn’t the only player who had a shocker.
