According to recent reports, Liverpool have approached a certain soon-to-be out-of-contract Juventus player.

According to Tancredi Palmeri, a reliable sports journalist, LFC has approached none other than the Argentinian superstar Paulo Dybala.

The reports claim that the 28-year-old would trade the Allianz Stadium for Anfield.

Dybala’s contract expires this summer, and the Reds can snap him up for free. This would guarantee that Liverpool will have some experience up top next season, even before this season ends!

Liverpool can still snap him up for a low price if the Bianconeri are not ready to let Dybala go for free.

Dybala has scored 11 goals and assisted a further four across 23 games. There is no concern about the player’s form and talent, but he is injury-prone, and Liverpool will have to be careful about that.

However, this is not the only problem that Jürgen Klopp’s club will face when it comes to signing Dybala. The player is at the peak of his career and hence will expect regular game time at Anfield.

But with Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Diogo Jota already contesting for a place in the front three, the competition will be very stiff. As a result, Dybala will not agree to a role on the bench and would expect to start most, if not all, games.

So it also depends a lot on how Liverpool handles Salah’s contract issues and if they plan to give Mane and Firmino, whose contracts expire in 2023, an extension.

Dybala’s signing also does not fit with the FSG model, where they prefer to sign players just before their prime. At 28, Dybala is at his prime and probably will soon start to decline.

Hence the signings of players like Raphinha, Moussa DiabyJarrod Bowen, Nico WillamsLuiz Diaz, and Cody Gakpo make more sense and deal more likely to be pursued.
