The FIFA World Cup 2022 was an incredible competition for football fans worldwide, with many lesser-known names breaking into the spotlight. Following that, as is normal, these rising stars drew significant interest from top-tier teams around Europe, with Liverpool being no exception.

Liverpool is widely acknowledged to be in desperate need of new recruits to boost their struggling roster. The club has to improve at practically every position, particularly in midfield. The legs in the center of the pitch are simply not as competitive as they were a few seasons ago.

In retrospect, addressing proven World Cup stars would have been the greatest option for acquiring new talent in less time, like Liverpool did. Sofyan Amrabat of Morocco, one of the most famous heroes who rose to notoriety during the World Cup, was approached by the club.

The player was the driving force behind Morocco’s breakout team and earned a well-deserved reputation. His ability in the middle was praised by everybody, including Liverpool.

The move, however, did not proceed as planned.

Even after a meeting with Amrabat’s entourage, Liverpool will lose out on him

According to Foot Mercato journalist Anas Bakhkhar in an interview with Empire of The Kop, Sofyan Amrabat was approached by the English club, and his entourage even spoke with Jurgen Klopp about his probable signing. However, the Moroccan star was persuaded differently.

According to reports, because Liverpool was interested in a handful of other high-profile midfielders in addition to Amrabat, his agent became concerned about the player’s minutes, and any further discussions with Liverpool were canceled.

Further reports suggest, the Fiorentina midfielder prefers Atletico Madrid to the Merseyside club as his potential suitor. Amrabat has expressed his love for Diego Simeone and the Colchoneros’ style of play.

The defensive midfielder is no longer on Liverpool’s radar. However, there is little to be dissatisfied about in this move. As previously said, the Reds are keeping a close watch on a handful of midfielders to join this summer.

Liverpool should focus their money and attention on bringing in names like Jude Bellingham, N’golo Kante and Matheus Nunes, which would produce in one of the club’s greatest transfer windows in recent memory.
