Writing this article at half-time, Alisson’s had a howler, and a few good saves against Real Madrid so far. It doesn’t seem like the best time to talk about him after the mistake he made, but the mistake doesn’t throw paint over how good of a player he truly is for Liverpool in general. Alisson is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and perhaps there are only a few better than him. But he deserves more appreciation than what he gets.

No one talks about it, but Alisson has actually been having a good season. Yes, Liverpool have conceded many goals this season, but if it weren’t for Alisson, They would be a lot worse than they currently are.

Now, the stat that inspired me to write this article in the first place: Alisson has kept13 clean sheets in 22 Champions League appearances for Liverpool at Anfield, which is the most in club history.

Do you realise how amazing that is?

Liverpool don’t really lose at Anfield. Well, they do, but most of the time, they don’t. A big part of why that happens is that the crowd really gets behind Alisson, and he’s generally really, really good for Liverpool. Making 13 Champions League clean sheets in just 22 games is a lot, especially when you realise how many good teams you play against, how many offensive juggernauts go up against goalkeepers every single game.

Well, if you are neutral and don’t consider this as something worth writing about, well, still writing about it. And, if you are a Liverpool fan, well, it means a lot to you. Alisson is special. He was worth every single penny, and he produces so much for the club on a daily basis, a lot of it goes unnoticed. Once he leaves or retires, then we’ll realise just what we had in our hands.
