Since the overhaul of this past summer, there has been much tumult in the Liverpool team and in the results.
While the Reds have played steadily well they have often struggled to convert draws into wins, tying half of their league games this campaign.
Here are the three women’s players who have shone the most so far.
Taylor Hinds
Liverpool’s match-winner last weekend against Aston Villa, defender Hinds notched two quick goals as the Reds won 2-1.
Hinds who recently made her international debut for Jamaica, rushed in at the back post to lift the ball over the goalkeeper for the first.
She again drifted in at the back post for the second and finished coolly and accurately into the bottom right corner.
Hinds who was named vice-captain in 2023, captained the side in the absence of Niamh Fahey.
The 25-year-old has also been excellent defensively, and she can boast one of the best tackle rates in the league.
Hinds is already very experienced in the WSL, having previously played for Everton and Arsenal.
Cornelia Kapocs
A lot of the hype this season surrounded new striker Olivia Smith, and she has been really good as I have previously covered, thus I haven’t included her on this list. New signing Cornelia Kapocs comparatively has gone under the radar.
Kapocs, 24, has already netted twice for Liverpool, a one-on-one against Crystal Palace and an audacious chip in Liverpool’s memorable 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
While she has had to fight for her place this season, Kapocs has been very impactful, leading Liverpool players in expected goals and goals per 90 minutes.
The Swedish youth international is a potent striker in terms of one-on-ones.
She scored 18 goals in 25 matches in 2023 in Sweden for Champions League side Linkoping before joining the Reds.
Marie Hobinger
In her second season at Liverpool, midfielder Marie Hobinger has been one of the most impactful players for Liverpool this season.
Hobinger scored two goals in that 3-2 win over Spurs, the first an outrageous free-kick, and the second a late penalty to win the game.
The 23-year-old has been central to Liverpool’s play on-the-ball, averaging 0.41 assists per game, which is in the top two percent among her peers.
She also leads the Reds in blocks, averaging 1.58 per game, typifying her leadership on the defensive end.
Last season, Hobinger became the first player in WSL history to score a hat-trick of goals from corners.
The Austrian international joined Liverpool from FC Zurich in 2023.
