The Reds face Everton in their final pre-season friendly on Sunday, but how have they fared in the transfer market and in their exhibition games thus far?
Liverpool’s Transfer Wins
Matt Beard’s side have made numerous additions in the transfer market, as the Reds look to improve upon last term’s impressive fourth-place finish.
28-year-old defender Gemma Evans joined Liverpool over the summer from rivals Manchester United. She played 19 times for the Red Devils last campaign, as they finished fourth.
The Welsh international boasts a wealth of experience at domestic and international level, and could feature for Liverpool as either a centre-back or left-back.
At 24 years old, Swede Cornelia Kapocs joins Liverpool having only played previously in her homeland.
The forward netted 23 goals last season for Linkoping in Sweden’s top flight.
Nascent Canadian forward Olivia Smith joined Liverpool from Sporting CP, whom she scored 13 goals with in 18 league appearances last season.
Smith was involved in the Canadian W Gold Cup squad which eventually lost to the USA in the semi-final earlier this year.
Liverpool have lost big players this summer, including defender Emma Koivisto to AC Milan, and midfielder Missy Bo Kearns who joined Aston Villa.
Liverpool On The Pitch
In a pre-season which began on 11th August, Liverpool have suffered defeats to Aston Villa and Manchester City at the AXA Melwood Training Centre.
Liverpool also played games against Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City, which the club never formally announced the results of.
Matt Beard’s side also had a friendly at Manchester United cancelled due to injuries in the Liverpool camp.
The Reds’ final pre-season friendly will be the first match Liverpool play at their new home, the Totally Wicked Stadium in Saint Helens.
The 18,000 capacity stadium is also home to Saint Helens Rugby League.
This move sees the Reds leave 16,500 capacity Prenton Park, which had been their home for the past six years.
One positive of this new era is that Liverpool will now play three home games at Anfield, compared to one last season.
The Reds will face Manchester City, Manchester United, and Everton at Anfield in the WSL this campaign.
Liverpool will begin their campaign proper against Leicester City in Saint Helens on 22nd September.
They will then play three straight away games against West Ham United, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Liverpool will then play their first match of the season at Anfield against Manchester City on 13th October.
