2025 looks set to be a huge year for Liverpool, so what players should you be looking out for in the squad?

Firstly, Happy new year! With the new year, comes new expectations, hopes and dreams. For all LFC fans the main expectation is the Premier League title, a hope for most would be the Carabao Cup and FA Cup on top of that and the Dream for all fans would be all four competitions.

When looking on a smaller scale, many people will have expectations of players in the Liverpool squad, so let’s look at what players could be in for a big 2025…

1. Conor Bradley

The Northern Ireland international has been a consistent fixture in the LFC squad this season and has been mightily impressive when given the opportunity.

The reason Conor makes it onto this list is because of the ongoing, and ever so annoying, Trent Alexander-Arnold contract saga.

The reports about Trent and the contract have been very different based on which country they are coming from.

If Trent were to leave there would be a huge place to fill in the LFC team due to his influence, however, based on what we have seen from Conor in the past season and a half, the drop off in quality wouldn’t be too much of an impact on the team.

His experience and quality has been there to see for quite a while now and he looks ready for a jump up in minutes.

Like I said if Trent does leave then it is a huge chance for Bradley to cement his place in the Liverpool lineup for years to come.

2. Ryan Gravenberch

Gravenberch has been a huge revelation this season, his move to Defensive Midfield (DM) has been a masterstroke by Arne Slot.

His athleticism, awareness and technical ability all combines perfectly to make him the best holding midfielder in the Premier League this year.

His form has been incredible, not many, if any, Liverpool fans could point out a game were Ryan had a poor game, and for a player to be that consistent, when he has played in nearly every minute of the season so far is nothing short of perfection.

Going into the new year Ryan must keep this up if he wants to be Liverpool’s DM of the future and make sure Slot and Richard Hughes do not go back in the market for another DM, it is pivotal to his LFC career to continue on the path he has started.

3. Darwin Nunez

The fan favourite has had a poor season so far, a lack of goal involvements and some poor performances have seen his minutes cut by Arne Slot.

The Uruguayan has always had the support of the fans due to his passion and obvious potential, but with this being his third season and a big regression in output this year, patience is wavering.

There have been a few reports to start the year, that AC Milan could look to Núñez and try to tempt Liverpool into a sale in January.

I highly doubt Slot and Hughes would sell a first team player in January, when getting a replacement would be 10x harder now, than in the summer.

With that being said, it does feel like Núñez has to step up in the second half of the season, the output needs to improve and show that he can be a consistent threat to goal and not just a moments player.

To make sure that he can cement his place in Slot’s plans for the squad going into future seasons it is vital Darwin locks in from now till the end of the season.

1. Dominik Szoboszlai

It’s been an interesting season for Dom, as he started the season as the clear starter in that No. 10 position and was putting in decent performances, but after Curtis Jones’ introduction he seemed to have lost his guaranteed spot in the starting XI.

However, after an impressive December from the Hungarian, he has once again settled into the No. 10 role.

What’s important for Szoboszlai is the consistency, similar to Darwin, he needs to make sure these run of games can become months of good performances.

His big fee has put pressure on him having to be a success and so far, many LFC fans would say he has been, but with some below-par performances and a lack of goal involvements before December, some sections of the fanbase were calling for him to be dropped and Jones get the nod.
