Liverpool FC currently sit top of the table during the January transfer window, with only 5
months left of the current club football calendar.
Having led most of the year, it’s likely that Liverpool will have a good chance of winning the Premier League title.
Having won one in the last 5 years, and competing with teams like Arsenal and Manchester City in previous seasons, Liverpool will be excited by their chances. Things are looking better than many would have expected at this point in the post-Klopp era.
Their squad is rich with talent, particularly Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister being stalwarts in the middle of the field. The emergence of the Dutch midfielder has been a revelation for Liverpool.
Their midfield play has led to many chances for the front 3, being led by Mo Salah, Luis Diaz and the combination of Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota.
Behind them is the defensive part of the team, who have increasingly found it easier to keep clean sheets and defend leads.
Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson along with Ibrahim Konate have kept Liverpool strong defensively.
Boasting one of the best defenses in the league, it’s likely that the team will continue to be strong in their defending. The uncertain futures of both van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold has not been a huge issue on the pitch as they have both largely shined.
Allison Becker, who arrived from AS Roma years ago, will continue to be one of the best goalies in the league. Behind him, Caoimhin Kelleher is elite relief on the off-chance Alisson must miss more action.
The Republic of Ireland international, Kelleher, is also a great backup option for the club, having seen a significant amount of first team action. They have kept 6 clean sheets this year, along with last year’s tally of 12 clean sheets.
The arrival of Arne Slot, the successor of Jurgen Klopp, was a major boost to the team, based on their current performance.
His common sense approach has buoyed the performance of the team, and they look to the future well.
It’s likely that Slot will continue with his approach to the Liverpool squad, to keep things balanced and improve the side’s winning chances in multiple venues and competitions.
The depth of the squad is there as there are competent options at each position on the pitch, which is almost as crucial as the Starting XI on a weekly basis.
