The man who is the reason Liverpool is what it is, a powerhouse.

In the old First Division, Liverpool were an ever-present in Shankly’s time in charge, the same cannot be said for Man City.

However, due to the time Shankly spent at Liverpool, he still faced City on 18 occasions. 18 matches is the most times any manager has faced Man City.

Shankly’s time saw some big wins over Man City, but it was his last game against the Manchester club, which saw The Reds’ biggest win.

A 4-0 win in April 1974 helped Liverpool to a runners-up place as Leeds won the league that year. Interestingly Man United were relegated that season.
