With Liverpool inching ever closer to getting a deal for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez across the line, there is about to be an excess at the position at Anfield.
To that backdrop, Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have earmarked one of the Red's longest serving players as a top priority for them this summer.
With Kerkez coming in, Richard Hughes and his team might be more inclined to sell than we would have initially excepted.
Atletico want LFC defender entering final year of his contract
Andy Robertson has been a staple in the Liverpool first team for almost a decade as he became one of the best left-backs in the world at the peak of his powers.
Only the now departed Trent Alexander-Arnold has recorded more Premier League assists for a fullback than Robbo has. His legend status is undeniable at the club.

Yet, now 31, his best days are clearly behind him as he failed to make his usual impact this past season despite playing in 45 matches, he only recorded 2 assists. A sharp decline in production from a player that normally produces at one of the most consistent levels.
This has not deterred Diego Simeone from identifying him as a strong option for his club to pursue this summer.
The Madrid-based club have already held opening talks over a move this summer and there is a reported interest from the player's side of things.
Starting XI spot in jeopardy
With the imminent arrival of Kerkez, it appears the writing might be on the wall for the Liverpool No. 26 in terms of consistent playing time.
There would be a fierce battle for the starting role and the odds would favor the new £45 million, 21 year-old arrival over the 31 year-old veteran.
Robbo, for his part, has been professional about things and is fully aware these things happen at big-time clubs.
""So when you play for a big club like Liverpool you expect challenges, you expect competition and I have always faced that, everyone here has faced that in their own positions and I expect nothing less.""Andy Robertson to Sky Sports

However, it appears he has never been closer to a possible Liverpool exit than right now as Atletico Madrid are a top-class side that can offer locked in first team football at the highest level in every competition.
Liverpool must now weigh the value Robertson can still have within the squad on a daily and weekly basis against the chance to recoup some value for one of their long-term assets.
