Can Liverpool keep up with their winning form?

Liverpool has been extremely successful across all competitions since the start of the season, but can they keep it up?

Stunning but ordinary, Liverpool started the season smoothly with nine victories in the last ten matches. While other top teams in Europe were stunned by other contenders in the Champions League or their domestic league, the Reds are currently the only ones standing out from the crowd.

The doubt has sounded envious that Liverpool hasn’t faced the examination from a “real” top team, such as Manchester City. But, just a friendly reminder, Liverpool climbed to the top of the Premier League after a 1-0 victory to Crystal Palace, leaving no one else in front of them.

Is that enough to say the Reds are winning on the right path? I hope so, but we have to be careful in some aspects.

The Undercurrent of the Injury Crisis

I have no intention of bringing down the vibe. Still, everything became familiar when Federico Chiesa and Caoimhin Kelleher were out for the fight against Bologna in last week’s Champions League. The following was Allison, who was injured during the Crystal Palace match. Manager Arne Slot had to pitch the third goalkeeper, Vitezlav Jaros, for the rest of the match.

We may have expected the injury crisis would come in the season at the midway point, but we didn’t expect it would start from the Reds’ goalkeeping ladder. Last season, the Reds had a period relying on Kelleher when Allison was sidelined. The secondary goalkeeper made a series of world-class performances and rescued the team.

Unfortunately, he rested this time due to the illness, forcing Jaros to come off the bench. The 23-year-old Czechia loanee had a great season with Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga, recording a 75.6% saving success in 14 matches he started and helping his team to win the league.

He didn’t show a sense of nervousness when Slot called him up, blocking plenty of shots from Crystal Palace afterward to ensure a clean sheet at the end of the match.

With the former Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian out of contract this summer and the other two goalkeepers in injury situations, Liverpool will need Jaros to step up more, and it seems like he’s ready for this.

Though Chiesa’s injury didn’t hurt Liverpool too much, Liverpool had previously inserted his function as a replenishment in the face of injuries. The Italian International’s absence might exhaust other strikers to complete more duties in matches out of the PL. Thanks to the variety of talents the team has, we can be more optimistic as other players, like Cody Gakpo, are eager to play for more goal contributions.
