Catching up on the latest Liverpool transfer rumors including Isak and Guehi

Where do we currently stand with potential new incoming transfers at Liverpool this summer?

For Liverpool fans, we’ve never seen a summer like this in our history.

A signal of intent by John W. Henry and his team has seen us pick out some of the best young talent in world football and bring them to Anfield.

With high-profile signings and big names in the current squad being auctioned off, to say it’s been a whirlwind would be an understatement. The crazy thing is, we aren’t done yet.

Alexander Isak

We’re currently living through one of the biggest transfer sagas of the modern day. The want-away striker vs the stubborn Geordie powerhouse.

Alexander Isak is one of, if not the most, lethal finishers in Europe. Liverpool fans know all too well what he is capable of after he scored a handful of goals against us last season. He even put the final nail in our League Cup final coffin.

After LFC landed Hugo Ekitike, we all assumed this trail had gone cold, but a surprise £110+ mil bid was put in by Liverpool and rejected immediately.

That was around 3 weeks ago, and we’ve been at a stalemate ever since.

Newcastle won’t sell until they get a replacement, and we won’t re-bid until that happens. Newcastle are slowly making their way down the list of partially available strikers and attempting to turn their heads.

Their current focus is on Yoanne Wissa with a fresh £40m bid being sent Brentford’s way Wednesday morning that was promptly rejected.

We have two weeks left in the window, and your guess is as good as mine on whether he’s sporting Liverpool red come September 1st.

If he does, fantastic. If not, these next couple of players would be happy to have a Liverpool transfer saga of their own.

Rodrygo

Brazilian and out of favour, winger Rodyrgo may be available this summer. Real Madrid are going through a transition of their own with ex-Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso pulling the strings at the Bernabeu.

Alonso has been favoring Brahim Diaz in that role through pre-season, and Rodrygo was benched for their home opener against Osasuna.

However, it’s not just Liverpool who are keeping a close eye on the Brazilian.

Man City and Arsenal have both flirted with interest in the 24-year-old, so if the Isak deal falls through, I’d expect Liverpool to join that race pretty quickly.

Bradley Barcola

Another player in a very similar situation is Bradley Barcola. PSG absolutely dominated European football last year, and Barcola played his role as much as anybody else.

As with every massive club, everybody wants to play, and in some of the bigger games PSG were involved in last season, Barcola found himself warming the bench for 60-70 minutes.

Densire Doue seems to have got the nod ahead of him, and Barcola may be interested in a move to secure more play time.

In any season, he might stay put, but it’s a World Cup season, and he likely won’t want to jeopardise a spot in the squad for the summer by sitting on the bench all season.

Marc Guehi

We switch our attention to centre half as we’ve all watched Liverpool’s last two matches. We’ve all said the same thing thereabouts about our defensive set-up and Slot’s substitutions and formation changes.

Whilst I have no fear that he’ll get it right, it can’t hurt to get back-up for both centre halves. Giovanni Leoni was unveiled to the Anfield faithful on Friday, and it might not be long before we see another.

Guehi is all but confirmed as a Red, all that’s left to haggle over is the ‘measly’ extra £10mil that Palace are after.

We’ve shown that we won’t be made fools of financially in this window, and we know we’re getting one of England’s starting centre-backs with years of Premier League experience.

We know the upside, so I imagine we’ll pay what it takes, and Guehi will be ready to step in and take some of the heat off of Ibou in no time.

And if Ibou’s first two outings are anything to go by, he might be pitching in to that £10mil himself to get it over the line.

Whilst it’s far from over, the ever-approaching deadline has made teams make some silly last-minute decisions in the past.

On one hand, we could seal the Isak deal in the coming days. On the other, Liverpool could panic buy a Danny Welbeck and leave us all scratching our heads.
