Liverpool might have missed out on Yan Diomande but Fabrizio Romano's latest update suggest it might come as a blessing.

The Ivorian has reportedly made clear that his preference is to join Paris Saint-Germain if he leaves RB Leipzig this summer. He had been at the top of the Reds' wishlist to replace Mohamed Salah who departed at the end of the 2025/26 campaign following the expiration of his contract.

Diomande is one of Europe's most exciting attackers who caught the eye throughout last season. With the 19-year-old clearly eyeing a move to PSG, that could open the door for Andoni Iraola to swoop for one of France's shining stars.

Romano just teased Barcola boost

Romano teased fans with a repost of an old report which claimed that Bradley Barcola's situation "remains absolutely open." He claimed that the PSG winger was high onnthe Reds shortlist.

A simple use of the sideeye and France flag emoticons suggest the Reds have been handed a boost. The previous post also noted that if Diomande and AS Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche join the Parisians, Barcola's future could change.

The 23-year-old has been a key man for PSG under Luis Enrique and registered an impressive tally of 13 goals and seven assists in 49 games last season. But he isn't always a guaranteed starter due to the star-studded attack in Enrique's possession.

Should Diomande join the French giants, it could lead to Barcola heading for the exit door. A move to Anfield seems one of his most likely destinations given the Merseysiders priority to sign a top winger this summer.

Barcola is a must-have for Iraola

At just 23 years of age, he would be an outstanding signing for the six times Champions League winners and the perfect way to address Salah's departure.

With Cody Gakpo struggling for consistency and facing exit rumours according to widespread of reports, Liverpool could deploy Bradley Barcola on the left wing.

Even if Gakpo remains at Anfield, Barcola possesses the lethal, explosive traits needed to transition into a devastating goalscorer and fill the massive void left by the Egyptian King.

The Frenchman is one of three attackers viewed as potential Diomande alternatives. Brighton's Yakuba Minteh and Lille's Matias Fernandez-Pardo are also being linked but Barcola has the resume that Iraola needs.

Diomande's stock was sky-high when he headed to the World Cup with Liverpool chasing his signature. But he didn't exactly set the world alight with his displays for the Ivory Coast and Barcola in fact has been a standout performer for Didier Deschamps' Les Bleus.

It's still early days regarding a potential swoop for the PSG star, and he'll likely cost a huge fee if made available. There's also the threat of other clubs, including Arsenal, who reportedly have him down as their second priority behind Morgan Rogers
