As the 2025/26 season comes to an end this weekend with Brentford’s visit to Anfield, LFC fans will be thankful we are a week closer to the end of this dreary campaign. However, the news does not stop for Liverpool on the back of a seriously underwhelming season.

With the final game still meaning so much for the team's present and future it’s vital this side can rally for just one more decent performance.

Can The Champions League Save Slot?

A win against Brentford guarantees the top-tier of European football for Liverpool next season, whether they deserve it or not, will be of no care to the Reds.

A big part of the future plans of the club will lie in the hands of this result and Arne Slot’s team must produce a good result to give their manager a chance at staying in his position.

After the lacklustre loss and performance away to the new Europa League champions, Aston Villa, Slot’s position was once more under question as the tactical make-up of the team was inadequate once again.

Then on Saturday, a statement from the departing Mo Salah rocked the team, and not for the first time this season. Salah questioned the team’s mentality, play style and future under this management.

Defiant messages from the Egyptian have caused problems for Arne Slot this season but this one seems to have rallied many of the LFC fans to get behind him.

We saw a damning vote from fans on Sky Sports’ MNF as 94% of the voters backed Salah and his stance on the direction the club is heading under the leadership of the Dutch coach.

Fabrizio Romano has often said there will be an end of season review, although many journalists have already stated that Slot has the backing of the board, both poor performances and fan unrest could signal the end of Slot’s tenure at the helm of Liverpool FC. Could Richard Hughes’ appointment at Bournemouth, Andoni Iraola, replace Slot?

Another Academy Graduate to Leave

Another nugget from Fabrizio Romano suggests that Curtis Jones could be leaving the club this summer. One of the many players that liked and commented on Salah’s statement, Jones has decided to side with his teammate on this one and will look to move on from his boyhood team should Slot stay at the club.

Inter Milan are said to be the main interested party, as was the case in January when the first rumours started to spread that Jones could leave the club. Romano has said that Jones would be open to the move and that he is high on the list of Inter’s targets.

This would mean that only Conor Bradley and Rio Ngumoha remain, who have come through the academy. Even worse for many Liverpool fans, it would result in zero Scousers in the first team for the first time in 10 years, since Trent first came on the scene.

Robertson and Salah Say Goodbye

There won’t be a dry eye in the house or at home when Sunday’s game finishes as two club legends play their final match for the Reds before they both leave for pastures new. Both players will receive a huge and deserved ovation.

Two major pillars of this dynasty will leave with the gratitude of thousands. Robertson was and has been the symbol of the Klopp era; relentless, undervalued, attacking and mentally strong.

One of Liverpool’s and the Premier League’s greatest left-backs says goodbye to Merseyside having won all there is to win and more, leaving not only as a great player but as a fantastic ambassador of the club.

As for Mo Salah, there is not enough time to talk about what this man has done for the club, an icon in every sense of the word leaves the club with the love of each and every LFC fan. As he leaves the club he looks to have chosen the nuclear option as he exits, calling out Arne Slot and challenging his power, ability and tactical knowledge as a manager.
