Liverpool have finally got their man. The longest and most dramatic storyline of the summer transfer window has reached its end as Alexander Isak will make the move from Newcastle United to Liverpool for a new Premier League record £125 million.

We saw an initial bid of £110m from the Reds get rejected earlier this summer. However, it was that very public bid that seemingly set things in motion on the player side to push for an exit.

The Swedish international has gone to great lengths to to force a move through and per multiple reports, he will finally get his wish on deadline day.

The Deal

For the second time this summer, Liverpool are setting a new British transfer record fee following the arrival of Florian Wirtz earlier in the window and now this move for Isak.

Newcastle were looking for a bid in the range of £150m, but that valuation was always going to be difficult for a club to match, given how publicly the player was pushing for an exit.

On the player side, Isak is expected to sign a six-year deal with Liverpool to cement himself as a central figure in the new era of Reds football. Personal terms were reportedly never an issue for this deal to get across the line.

It was always ONLY Liverpool for Isak."

The Magpies have struggled to sign alternative striker options all summer but their recent signing of Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart opened the door for Richard Hughes and his team to return with fresh terms for Isak.

It's believed that in order for Newcastle to fund another forward addition, they had to move on from their talisman.

Worth the Wait

Liverpool identified Isak as a dream summer target from the very beginning of the summer window and despite a host of supreme talents being brought in, it's the Swede who takes the shine.

In a summer of total overhaul for their attack, Isak was the final piece to the puzzle. Hugo Ekitike has already hit the ground running at Anfield and Wirtz is one of the most exciting playmakers in the world, so Alexander will have some high expectations from Day 1.

He fits the Arne Slot system wonderfully and he will be able to take a huge scoring load off the shoulders of Mohamed Salah and Co.

Speaking of Salah, the Reds' attack now features a wide variety of forwards that can score from anywhere on the pitch. Cody Gakpo, Salah, Isak, Ekitike and Wirtz is certainly one of, if not the best, attacks in all of Europe.

Liverpool would not be willing to spend this kind of money if they did not believe that Isak would take them to the absolute next level now and going forward. It was a long and winding journey, but Liverpool got their man in the end.
