For the first time under new head coach Andoni Iraola, Liverpool are back at Anfield. After a three-match series in the United States, the Reds now have two pre-season friendlies in front of their own fans, before the season starts for real on Tyneside in a fortnight.
The Reds' sole competitive meetings with Monaco came in the 2004/05 Champions League group stages, the start of an historic run to glory for Rafa BenÃtez's team. They'll hope Sunday's rematch with the Monégasques, with a new Spaniard at the helm, is a good omen.

Recent Form
Liverpool: The new Reds boss oversaw an event-filled pre-season tour across the Atlantic. Things started brightly with a 4-2 goal fest against Sunderland in Nashville, followed by a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Wrexham in New York courtesy of a late Rio Ngumoha strike at Yankee Stadium.
However, a 4-2 setback against Leeds in Chicago brought the squad back down to earth, highlighting the work still ahead for the Spaniard.
Now, with the US tour in the rear-view mirror, Kopites will be hoping for a victory to celebrate as Iraola steps out in the Anfield dugout for the very first time.
The Reds seemed set to continue their perfect record last Sunday in Chicago, leading 2-0 at the interval against Leeds United, thanks to goals from Luke Chambers and the Florian Wirtz.
However, in the second half, Liverpool rang the changes and totally collapsed, conceding four times in less than half an hour, beaten 4-2 at Soldier Field. It is still only pre-season, so the results ultimately do not matter, but that was still concerning. Thus, Iraola will be hoping to a more complete performance this time.
Monaco: As for Monaco, this will be their fifth pre-season friendly of the summer, most-recently beating Getafe 1-0 at Stade Louis II on Thursday; Paris Brunner's penalty the difference. Among the previous result, they had lost 2-0 against Sporting CP in Lisbon, as well as drawing 2-2 with Cercle Brugge.
Les Monégasques finished seventh in Ligue 1 last season, so are preparing for a maiden UEFA Conference League campaign. To get into the league phase, they'll have to overcome the losers of Ferencváros vs Górnik Zabrze later this month, likely to be the latter.
New manager Filipe LuÃs and his side will have a training camp in England this week, also taking on Coventry City next Friday, before a European trip to either Hungary or Poland the following Thursday.
Thus, this is likely to be a tough test for Iraola's team, but one Liverpool should be expected to win.
Liverpool team news
Following their early World Cup eliminations, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak were thrown straight into the starting lineup against Leeds, replaced at the interval, while Ryan Gravenberch came off the bench at half time. Alisson, Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo are yet to feature in pre-season, but have been working at AXA Training Centre for just over a week, so are in line for some minutes.
Defensively though, Andoni Iraola has very limited options. Joe Gomez is sidelined due to a muscle injury suffered against Sunderland, while Jérémy Jacquet, slightly concerningly, is still yet to feature. The new French defender has not played since requiring shoulder surgery in February.
Fellow new recruit and World Cup winner VÃctor Muñoz will be presented to the crowd, having cut his holiday short, albeit surely is not ready to see any action. Fellow finalist in New Jersey three weeks ago Alexis Mac Allister remains on holiday, follow his exertions for Argentina.
Youngsters Ifeanyi Ndukwe, Luke Chambers, Trey Nyoni, Kieran Morrison, Will Wright and Lewis Koumas, who featured prominently in America, will be hoping to play at some stage at Anfield.
Monaco team news
Similar to their hosts, it is a new era at Monaco. Filipe LuÃs is the new man in the dugout in the Principality, having won seven trophies during 101 matches in charge of Flamengo, most notably last year's Copa Libertadores. He has lost left-back Caio Henrique to Ajax and star winger Maghnes Akliouche to PSG, while USMNT striker Folarin Balogun is expected to depart too.
LuÃs does though have Paul Pogba, who made just six Ligue 1 appearances last season, albeit he and Ansu Fati are both currently injured. Former Tottenham defender Eric Dier is starting at centre-back for Monaco these days, while striker Mika Biereth, once of Arsenal, will led their attack.
