Jürgen Klopp just sent Liverpool a stern Florian Wirtz warning

Florian Wirtz has not had the start to life at Liverpool that he would have wanted.

He has not scored or assisted for Liverpool yet, and has even started coming off the bench now, as was the case in the game against Manchester United on Sunday, which ended in Liverpool's fourth consecutive loss.

It is genuinely baffling to see what Liverpool are doing, or not doing, and even though it does look steep now, there is obvious optimism that Arne Slot will figure it out and Liverpool will return to winning ways sooner rather than later.

However, at the moment, it is not looking good for either Wirtz or Liverpool, and former manager Jürgen Klopp has come to the German superstar's defense.

Wirtz has been alright as a performer, and his underlying numbers have actually been pretty good, but it is just that the goals are not coming, and the assists are not, either.

However, Klopp was quick to warn Liverpool fans about what words they may choose to say to Wirtz.

Jürgen Klopp calls Florian Wirtz an "incredible talent", and he's not wrong

He said: "You all will eat your words if you use the wrong words with Florian Wirtz. He’s an incredible talent."

Honestly, he cannot be closer to the truth.

Wirtz was the best player in the Bundesliga just two seasons ago, when Bayer Leverkusen won the domestic double unbeaten. Wirtz was at the heart of what they were trying to achieve under current Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso, and things worked out amazingly well.

Then, in the second season, Wirtz was once again Leverkusen's best player, as well as one of the best players in the league. They came up short in the league title race, but Wirtz's individual numbers were astonishing.

Wirtz has not really had a single bad season since he started off at Leverkusen. However, this is also the first time he has played for a club that is not Bayer Leverkusen.

Klopp's opinion on Wirtz is pretty bang-on. It hits the nail right on the head. Wirtz is an exceptional football player. His underlying numbers are already pretty good. Once he really hits the stride, and the team really starts to gel as well as Slot wants them to, Wirtz will improve inevitably.

People are ignoring that this is a team that has added four to five new additions to the starting XI. Even though they were winning games before, it was obvious that Liverpool were not playing with the same conviction they used to last season.

These things take time, and Wirtz, even though he deserves some share of the criticism, will come good. He is too talented a player not to.
