Liverpool have officially submitted their 25-man Premier League squad for the 2026/27 season following the conclusion of the summer transfer window.
To keep the Premier League happy, clubs have to meet certain homegrown player rules, and Liverpool have managed to check that box comfortably with eight homegrown players in the mix. That includes a familiar mix of senior stars, fresh faces from a busy summer, and—in a nice nod to the academy—a young right-back stepping up from the under-21s to claim a spot.
Of course, the rules can be a bit of a headache. The squad cap means every single slot is precious, though thankfully the youngest prospects in the youth ranks can still play without taking up one of these main 25 spots.
Goalkeepers: Alisson, Mamardashvili, Woodman, Jaros
Defenders: Van Dijk, Araujo, Gomez, Kerkez, Tsimikas, Frimpong, Bradley, Chambers, Mabaya
Midfielders: Wirtz, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Endo, McConnell
Forwards: Isak, Ekitike, Barcola, Gakpo, Munoz, Chiesa
Players under the age of 21 are not required to be included in the 25-man squad and can instead be registered on a separate list for younger players. As a result, the likes of Rio Ngumoha, Trey Nyoni, Jeremy Jacquet, Giovanni Leoni and Lewis Koumas are not included, despite all of them being expected to play significant roles this season.
Premier League rules state that every club must include at least eight players who qualify as "Home-Grown Players" (HGP).
The Reds have selected Conor Bradley, Luke Chambers, Jeremie Frimpong, Joe Gomez, Vitezslav Jaros, Isaac Mabaya, James McConnell and Freddie Woodman to meet the HGP criteria.
As reported by Jack Lusby, there is no place in the squad for Harvey Davies, despite his involvement throughout pre-season under Andoni Iraola. Kaide Gordon and Owen Beck, who is recovering from a long-term injury, have also been left out.
All three players can still feature for the Under-21s as over-age players.
The latest addition to the list, Bradley Barcola, is expected to make his debut for the Reds in today’s game against Ipswich. The French forward, signed from PSG for £123 million, will be hoping to make a fast start to life at Liverpool.
Changes to the squad cannot be made until January 1st, when the January transfer window opens. Until then, this is the squad Andoni Iraola will be working with during his first season as Liverpool manager.
