While Liverpool are seemingly limping across the finish line of this season towards the 2024/25 Premier League title, the summer transfer rumor mill is beginning to gain steam.
One possible position of contention this summer at Anfield is forward, where the uneven play over recent months from Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez has raised the need for a potential reshuffling of the No. 9 role at Liverpool.
The club have been linked with several proven Premier League commodities and all would be solid options for various reasons.
With that in mind, let's take a look at which forwards could be transfer targets this summer for Richard Hughes and Co.
Liam Delap - Ipswich Town
The 22-year old forward for struggling Ipswich Town has been a name that has been gaining some steam in connection to all of the big clubs in England.
His current £40 million release clause means there is not going to be an outrageous price for one of the brightest young attacking English talents.
While he is not yet the finished article, his ceiling is absolutely massive and he has all the tools to become a star under the right tutelage and in the right situation. Liverpool could be that spot for Delap.

He has netted 12 times in the league for a soon-to-be relegated side, which in of itself is an impressive feat.
This season of experience should do wonders for his future development and seeing him kick on to 15-20 goals next season would not shock anyone.
With that said, reports have him as a target, but not a priority for Liverpool this summer.
Matheus Cunha - Wolves
Football insider is reporting that Cunha has tagged Anfield as a preferred destination should he make a move this summer.
One of the main desires behind this move is the player wants to go somewhere to begin truly challenging for trophies, something he will rarely do with Wanderers.

He's a fine player that has made life miserable for the Reds at various stages of his career, so he would make for a nice addition to the attack. His release clause of £62.5 million is somewhat hefty, but he is a proven goalscorer in England and that is something that cannot be overlooked.
Rivals Manchester United and Arsenal are also said to be interested so it won't be easy, but if all parties want it, making it happen should be pretty straightforward.
He brings a confident brand of forward that might not always mesh with the rest of his squad, but he is a steady producer, something the Reds need up top when Mohamed Salah is not firing.
Alexander Isak - Newcastle United
The Swedish superstar forward scored one of two goals against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup Final a few weeks ago, so the Reds are very familiar with his work.
He has remained the top target in attack for the Reds and despite the rumored fee coming close to £150 million, the club still seems firm in their efforts to bring him to Anfield.
He's the kind of top-level forward that can change the trajectory and fortunes of a club and it's not hard to imagine the damage he could do in this Liverpool side.

He has the physical gifts of Nunez but the clinical finishing we don't see as much from Jota anymore. He is just entering the prime of his career and a move to Liverpool could be just the thing to have him find an even higher bar to cross.
Being able to sign him from a Top 4 contender would also be a nice side boost to things if it did come to fruition.
There is a lot of smoke around this one, but seeing FSG splash that kind of cash on one player is something I need to see to believe.
