The eyes of the world will be on Anfield for Manchester City's visit, this the first fixture since the Sky Blues were found "guilty of all charges" by an independent commission. Well, the Premier League script writers have nailed it by giving them a trip to Liverpool first up. Pretty much everyone is desperate for Andoni Iraola's team to win, so find out the lineup he has selected.

Liverpool's confirmed starting lineup vs Manchester City

  • Alisson Becker
  • Ronald Araújo, Jérémy Jacquet, Virgil van Dijk & Miloš Kerkez.
  • Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister & Florian Wirtz.
  • Víctor Muñoz, Lewis Koumas & Bradley Barcola.
  • Substitutes: Giorgi Mamardashvili, Joe Gomez, Kostas Tsimikas, Jeremie Frimpong, Wataru Endō, Trey Nyoni, James McConnell, Federico Chiesa & Rio Ngumoha.

We already knew that neither Alexander Isak nor Cody Gakpo were going to be available, after Iraola confirmed as much during his press conference on Friday. Thus, Lewis Koumas will lead the line, with Víctor Muñoz also coming in, chosen over Rio Ngumoha.

Elsewhere, despite sitting out France's win over Belgium in Paris on Monday, this was nothing major, hence why Jérémy Jacquet continues to partner Virgil van Dijk at centre-back, with Ronald Araújo once again chosen over Jeremie Frimpong on the right.

There was though a couple of major late injury scares for Liverpool fans online on Sunday morning. A video emerged of the squad arriving at their hotel, with neither Dominik Szoboszlai nor Alexis Mac Allister spotted. It turned out that the Argentine was fit, but the Hungarian was not, missing out due to a hamstring injury, which is a massive blow.

Manchester City's confirmed starting lineup vs Liverpool

  • Gianluigi Donnarumma
  • Matheus Nunes, Rúben Dias, Marc Guéhi & Nico O'Reilly.
  • Elliot Anderson, Enzo Fernández & Rayan Cherki.
  • Iliman Ndiaye, Erling Braut Håland & Antoine Semenyo.
  • Substitutes: Gerónimo Rulli, Mateo Kovačić, Joško Gvardiol, Vitor Reis, Jérémy Doku, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Allan, Abdukodir Khusanov and Rico Lewis.

Phil Foden remains suspended, following his red card in the Manchester derby, while Jérémy Doku is back, coming off the bench against Sunderland for his first appearance since the FA Community Shield due to a calf injury.

Meantime, despite hobbling off in Portugal a week ago, Erling Braut Håland is fit to start; perhaps you could call his injury a sham. Enzo Maresca made one change, this at left-back, with Nico O'Reilly coming in for Joško Gvardiol.
