Liverpool know the two conditions which must be met to sign Alexander Isak. The one in their control is paying $202m.
Over the last few months, Liverpool has shocked the world with the number of players they're signing, alongside their hefty price tags. However, those who follow Liverpool closely know that this spending spree has been a long time coming, with the club saving pennies over the last few windows.
Despite the signings made, Liverpool is not complete in the final third. At least one more attacking addition must be made, but multiple would be ideal. To really secure the Premier League title again, Alexander Isak must be signed.
Liverpool must pay $202m to sign Alexander Isak
According to a report from Liverpool.com, Liverpool knows the price they must pay to sign Alexander Isak. It's believed that a bid of around $202m or £150m would secure the deal. Even then, Liverpool would have to wait for a further condition outside of their control.
See, Newcastle is only interested in selling Alexander Isak to Liverpool if they secure two quality options of their own. Considering how they approached the Benjamin Seko race, surrendering him to Man United without much of a fight, there's a fat chance of that happening.
So, Liverpool must be twiddling their thumbs and gritting their teeth right now. They want to sign Isak, but they're relying on a club who couldn't spend a pound in a pound shop to sign not one, but two players.
If there was a way Liverpool could help, they surely would. However, there are no players for Liverpool to offer in a swap deal. The reason they're looking to sign Alexander Isak, after all, is to rejuventate a depleted front line.
New signings Jeremie Frimpong and Hugo Ekitike impressed in the Community Shield, so there's this optimism to cling onto in the meantime. However, it's hard to be optimistic about the season ahead unless more attacking options are signed.
This is the aim of Liverpool, and hopefully it's Alexander Isak. He's the perfect option, and would significantly boost the title race in Liverpool's favor. Only time will tell if the deal is even possible, but at least Liverpool knows a price.
