Alisson Becker is one of the best Liverpool goalkeepers of all-time. He's played in Merseyside since 2018 and has won two Premier Leagues, the Champions League and the FA Cup. He's also won two Premier League Golden Gloves.

In a day where composure on the ball and accurate distrubution means just as much as shot-stopping, it's refreshing that Alisson has it all. There is nobody in the world that Liverpool would feel safer having between the sticks than the Brazilian, which says a lot about their transfer business.

Interestingly, it says more about Man City's transfer business. They're soon to be making a move which doesn't bring them much closer to Liverpool.

Man City wants to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma

According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has agreed to join Man City. Now, Man City just needs to sell their own goalkeeper, Ederson, before they can bring in the Italian shot-stopper. Ederson is in talks to join Galatasaray.

Donnarumma has been on the scene for many years now, but his prime years are still ahead of him. He's only 26 years old, which is still quite young for a goalkeeper. So, the Premier League has another world-beater on their hands, if this transfer goes through.

And look, Donnarumma is a clear upgrade on Ederson. With no disrespect to Ederson, Donnarumma is the favorable upgrade of the two. We can hold our hands in the air and say this is great business from Man City.

Liverpool still has the Premier League's best goalkeeper

But Liverpool still has the better goalkeeper of the two teams. This is simply the fact of the matter, and unless Man City somehow decides to sign Alisson from Liverpool, they'll never have the best goalkeeper in the world.

Alisson is ranked world number one in Sports Illustrated's best goalkeepers list. SI also described Alisson as the 'model goalkeeper,' showing that even if Man City pulls off this great piece of business, their upgrade over Ederson will still be looking up towards Alisson.

In contrast, SI ranked Donnarumma as third in their list. However, they did say that there might not be a better shot-stopper than the Italian in the world.

So, Donnarumma excels at this trait, but Alisson is the better all-round goalkeeper. In an era where defenses should be tightened and less shots are faced by goalkeepers, Alisson is the clear winner of the two.

Excellent piece of business by Liverpool back in 2018 and a sign to always trust the process.
