So far, the Reds have made four new signings, if you include 18 year old Ifeanyi Ndukwe. Meantime, Ronald Araújo has arrived on loan from Barcelona, while Víctor Muñoz has arrived from Osasuna £34.5 million and Jérémy Jacquet has joined from Stade Rennais for £60 million.

Liverpool's current summer spend of around £92 million sees them rank ninth among Premier League clubs. The eye-catching aspect is the fact that the Reds sit below newly-promoted duo Coventry City and Ipswich Town, with the Tractor Boys having brought in ten new players.

However, considering the enormous gulf that exists between England's top two divisions, it is pretty standard these days for promoted clubs to be among the biggest spenders.
More relevant for Liverpool supporters is where they rank among other clubs who will be fighting for Champions League spots.

Xabi Alonso is starting a new era at Stamford Bridge, while Spurs' squad requires major surgery, which is what makes this fact not overly shocking.
