Liverpool played out a thriller on Wednesday away to Newcastle United that saw both teams concede from leading positions. The Reds will be more annoyed at conceding so late in proceedings.

Goals from Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones got Liverpool going but it was not enough in the end to bring home a victory.

Let's see how the Liverpool players rated in the exciting but frustrating draw.

Caoimhin Kelleher - 4.5/10

For his incredible high standards of late, Kelleher had a night to forget in the North East. There is a fair case he could have done more with all 3 home goals but certainly the equaliser is one he won't want to see again. He did make a few saves including a fine one against Gordon.

Jarell Quansah - 5/10

I have a touch of sympathy for the youngster as it was strange to see him start at right-back with the more experienced Joe Gomez staying central. The big defender did make a couple of defensive contributions but overall was not his finest performance,

Joe Gomez - 5/10

Almost always a sturdy deputy, Joe Gomez looked every bit the defender who hadn't played regularly before being asked to play twice in a few days. Easily turned for Anthony Gordon's goal, he also gifted him a golden chance in the first half before seeing his keeper bail him out.

Virgil van Dijk - 6/10

Van Dijk was still the better of the starting defenders but will feel inwardly disappointed at his role in the opener. He stood off the dangerous Isak and was punished in style. The big Dutchman did still make some crucial interventions and created chances with his raking passes.

Andy Robertson - 6/10

The Scottish defender looks to have put a bad spell behind him as he continues to improve since his return to the starting eleven. Nothing spectacular at either end but Robertson looked a threat going forward and dealt well with Jacob Murphy.

Ryan Gravenberch - 6.5/10

Another guilty of setting very high standards, Gravenberch was perhaps feeling a touch of fatigue. The midfielder did still have good moments in transition but was largely outran by a hard working home midfield.

Alexis Mac Allister - 7/10

Argentine playmaker Mac Allister had another solid creative performance though did also find himself chasing Newcastle counterparts. The midfielder also had to temper his approach after picking up one of the softest yellow cards you are ever likely to see.

Curtis Jones - 7/5/10

Another solid display from the Scouse midfielder as his stock continues to rise. The best of the combative midfield, he grabbed another goal after slamming home a Salah cross.

Cody Gakpo - 5/10

A very rare off day for Gakpo, who was kept very quiet after getting two goals in his last two games. The Dutchman rarely got himself in the area and headed his big chance wide with the entire goal gaping.

Darwin Nunez - 3/10

A tad harsh perhaps but on such performances are games won and lost. One thing in the striker's defence is his stellar work rate, but even that largely deserted him as he added to more wayward finishing from the Uruguayan.

Mo Salah - 9.5/10 MOTM

What more can be said for the Egyptian magician. Another performance that will add heaps of pressure to the contract writers in Liverpool's boardroom. Two wonderfully taken goals and a superb assist should have dragged his side to all three points.

Trent Alexander-Arnold - 9/10

Brought on to have the exact impact he did, Trent Alexander-Arnold helped drag a lethargic Liverpool back into the game. Two superb pick outs for the talismanic Salah saw him get two assists in under half an hour.
