Liverpool spent 88% of the match on Wednesday night getting thoroughly outplayed by PSG in the first leg of our Champions League Round of 16 knockout tie.

The French side played a near flawless match and the only thing that was missing was a goal. Alisson Becker made sure that did not happen on a night for the ages from the Brazilian man in goal. A late Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott connection meant the Reds return to England with an advantage.

Let's see how the Liverpool players rated in this very confusing victory in France.

Alisson Becker - 10/10 - Perfection. An absolute goalkeeping masterclass from the best in the world.

Trent Alexander-Arnold - 6.5/10 - He defended far better than I was expecting as he held his own against Barcola and Kvaratskhelia. Could not offer much going forward but he put in a shift.

Ibrahima Konate - 6/10 - Was not his cleanest performance but he made some key blocks when it mattered the most. Was lucky not to get sent off as well.

Virgil van Dijk - 6.5/10 - It was a rough opening half for the captain, much like it was for the rest of the squad. He tightened things up a bit after the break but it was still an overall struggle.

Andy Robertson - 6/10 - Offered almost nothing going forward and struggled at times but he put in a proper shift and worked his tail off from start to finish.

Alexis Mac Allister - 5.5/10 - One of his most invisible games in a long time as he struggled to keep up with the pace and technical dribblers on offer from PSG. He'll look to bounce back at the weekend.

Ryan Gravenberch - 5/10 - One of the most pedestrian outings from the Dutchman this season as he was sloppy on the ball and did very little in the way of breaking up their play.

Dominik Szoboszlai - 6/10 - Liverpool's No. 8 was fine tonight. He at least tried to get moving forward the few times it presented itself. Made a fine block as well.

Mohamed Salah - 5/10 - He's human after all. Almost zero service meant the few times he did touch the ball he pressed and lost it. This will be a blip in a magical season.

Diogo Jota - 5.5/10- Like Salah, had almost no service and he could not carve out any clear chances. Spent a lot of time chasing the ball around.

Luis Diaz - 4.5/10 - This was a rough outing as he could not pin Hakimi back nor did he do a great job helping Robbo defensively. No cutting edge on the ball. Poor night for the Colombian.

SUBS:

Wataru Endo - 7.5/10 - Was so very good right away after coming on winning challenges and intercepting several passes. "The Closer" rose to the occasion once again in this one.

Curtis Jones - 7/10 - Did a far better job than Diaz of holding onto the ball and trying to relieve some of the PSG pressure. His versatility is appreciated by Arne Slot for sure.

Darwin Nunez - 8/10 - He was an immediate physical presence that the hosts were not ready for and his effort and power won the ball before his perfectly weighted pass setup the winner.

Harvey Elliott - 8/10 - The hero of the night. A brilliant late run into the box and a great first touch of the match to beat the keeper and secure the victory.
