Following yet another eventful international break that saw several Liverpool players shine for their respective nations, the focus turns back to club football and more specifically for the Reds, Premier League action.
Southampton are next on the agenda come Sunday and while the Reds should be considered favorites, nothing is guaranteed in this sport.
There are some positive reports on the injury front regarding players like Alisson Becker and Harvey Elliott, but it will remain to be seen if they take part in the match against the Saints.
With that being said, let's take a look at how Liverpool could lineup for Premier League action against Southampton on Sunday.
Goalkeeper: Caoimhin Kelleher
Defenders: Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson
Midfielders: Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai
Forwards: Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo
Probable Subs: Alexis Mac Allister, Joe Gomez, Harvey Elliott, Luis Diaz, Kostas Tsimikas
Despite the good news that Alisson has returned to training this week, there is no need to rush him back for a match with a relegation threatened side, especially with Kelleher having played so well in his absence.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is battling some fitness issues but I think Bradley should do just fine stepping in for him. Despite an injury scare for the Netherlands, van Dijk should be ready to go on Sunday.
As for the midfield, Mac Allister took a nasty challenge while playing for Argentina, and while I think he could start, just like Alisson, there is no need to push it if you don't need to. Arne Slot will have loved to see Jones and Szoboszlai play well over the break to grow their confidence.
The Dutch pair of Gravenberch and Gakpo get the start as I think the former is indispensable right now and the latter only played a few minutes in Holland's final match of this break.
Salah is a no-brainer as usual and playing alongside Nunez should see both men getting plenty of shots off in a match I expect Liverpool to have a lot of the ball.
It will be interesting to see if Elliott can snag some minutes off the bench as he has been in full training for awhile now and Slot needs to find a way to get him back on the pitch. Tsimikas has become a favorite of the new coaching staff so I wouldn't be shocked to see him get some decent minutes.
The Reds should handle this one comfortably even with some key pieces missing from the start.
