From England to China and beyond, Liverpool players have and will play fixtures across the world during this ‘break’.
The Liverpool diaspora will be returning home soon enough, but first let’s find out how they got on.
Curtis Jones- England
Perhaps the most obvious, and possibly the most intriguing, Curtis Jones has wowed during this international break.
Jones, 23, scored a debut goal as England routed Greece 3-0 in Athens.
He found the net with a gorgeous backheel from a low Morgan Gibbs-White pass.
Jones made his second England start in the Three Lions’ win over the Republic of Ireland on Sunday.
During his time with England, Jones has continued the outstanding form he has shown for Liverpool in recent weeks, one can only hope after a lot of first-team football that he doesn’t return to Kirkby too tired.
Wataru Endo- Japan
Liverpool’s ultimate holding midfield stopper captained his country to a 4-0 victory over Indonesia in World Cup qualifying.
Endo played all 90 minutes as Japan cemented a nine-point lead at the top of their group over second-place North Korea.
The 31-year-old is in need of first-team minutes, a sometimes benefit of the oft shunned international breaks (by people like myself), he has often looked better in a Liverpool shirt with minutes under his belt.
He will be a part of the Japan team that travels to face China in Xiamen on Tuesday
Endo is unsurprisingly putting in a lot of effort at the AXA Training Centre when not on Japan duty, and will play a big part as Christmas fixture congestion hits.
Ben Doak- Scotland
Liverpool duo Ben Doak and Andy Robertson helped Scotland to victory over Croatia at Hampden Park, ending their long winless run.
Doak, 19, stood out, earning the player of the match award for giving Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol a difficult night at the office.
The former Celtic winger turned Gvardiol inside out in a clip that went viral across social media.
He earnt his fifth cap for Scotland that night, just four days after his 19th birthday.
Doak’s cross was batted away by the goalkeeper, before landing in the path of John McGinn who fired home the winner.
Scotland will travel to Poland on Monday night to round off their Nations League campaign.
Liverpool will have a host of players returning from international duty and they should all be high on confidence to kick on through the end of this calendar year since the focus now turns solely to club football the next few months.
