Sunday saw Liverpool U21 extend their unbeaten run to nine matches in the EFL Trophy and Premier League 2 play following a 4-2 win over Tottenham U21.

Goals from Kieran Morrison, Will Wright and Prince Kobe Cisse were more than enough to get the job done on the day for the young Reds. This result makes it eight wins and one draw since their last defeat way back in November, a scintillating run of form that should have fans and the club excited for the future.

With so many youngsters playing well, Arne Slot and his staff will surely be taking more visits to see them play whenever possible.

Let's take a look into what has spurned this Liverpool surge and what we can learn from it for the club's benefit going forward.

Scoring for Fun

During this nine match unbeatean run, Liverpool U21 have scored 2 or more goals six times, and 3 or more goals 5 times. The free flowing attack has seen the Reds overwhelm opponents. This is the way we want to see our senior players attack, so it's nice to see it being implemented at lower levels.

Morrison, who scored twice in the win over Tottenham U21 on Sunday, now has 14 goals in the Premier League 2 campaign as the 19-year old Northern Irishman is really hitting his stride.

He has netted five times over his last three appearances as he has taken on a key scoring role for Rob Page's side.

American teenager Keyrol Figueroa, who has missed the last few matches with minor injury, has scored 10 PL 2 goals himself this season. including three times during this great run for the squad.

Perhaps even more exciting for fans of the Liverpool first team, 18-year old England forward Will Wright has begun playing very well, as the 6'3 standout netted against Tottenham U21 for his second goal in three outings. He also bagged an assist agaisnt Spurs showcasing his versatile game.

The balance in creative and scoring firepower has been crucial to their success, especailly during this run that has launched Liverpool U21 into 4th in the Premier League 2 table.

Confidence breeds growth

When you have a group of talented young players, there is no guarantee that we will see all the talent recognized. Even on this form, it's still likely a large number of the lads will never suit up for the Liverpool first team in the future.

However, when you are a young talent in football, or any sport for that matter, you need to see early success to build the foundation of belief in yourself, which is then when the real talent can rise to the top.

Putting together a run like this, with so many diferent players contributing, could indicate that at least a handful of these youngsters are looking ahead with full eyes and clear minds.

Players like Morrison, Figeuroa, Kyle Kelly, Wright and Lucas Pitt are just some of the burgeoning talents playing well for Liverpool U21.

Seeing Liverpool spend the heavy money they did last summer on new arrivals means the first team factory line is only going to get tougher and tougher to break into.

However, curating a pipeline like the one we are seeing now that has produced Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni with more to follow, is an elite way to supplement your transfer business if you are a top club.

What's next for Liverpool U21?

The young Reds will next put their unbeaten run on the line when they play Wolves U21 on March 8th in a match Liverpool should be favored in. Wolves currently sit 19th in the PL 2 league standings, fourteen points adrift of the Reds up in 4th.

Based on form, Rob Page should be confident any lineup he fields for this one will be more than enough to keep the good vibes rolling.

The action will kickoff at 2pm GMT at the Kirkby Academy on March 8.
