The wheels are turning at Liverpool as the club sets its sights on the 2026/27 season. Across both the senior setup and the academy ranks, the preliminary work is already done and the focus has shifted entirely to the task ahead.
The men's and women's first teams are currently undergoing pre-season preparations, but what about the youth teams. Well, the new campaign became a bit clearer for Rob Page's under-21 side on Monday morning.

What other competitions are Liverpool under-21s involved in?
Alongside clubs from EFL League One and EFL League Two, as well as 15 other academy sides, Liverpool will enter the Vertu Trophy, previously known as the LDV Vans, Johnstone's Paint, Papa Johns and others.
They have been drawn into Northern Group H, alongside Huddersfield Town, Doncaster Rovers and Rochdale. All three matches will be played away from home, with dates currently to be confirmed.
Who are the defending Premier League 2 champions?
After 20 regular season PL2 matches last time round, Chelsea topped the table, above Manchester United on goal difference. Liverpool meantime came seventh.
In the subsequent post-season play-offs, featuring the top 16 finishers, Liverpool fell at the first hurdle, ousted by Crystal Palace on penalties after a 2-2 draw at Kirkby Academy. Brighton & Hove Albion were crowned champions in May, despite only coming 12th, defeating Man United 1-0 at the Amex.
