The international break is finally over. After, what has felt like, the longest fortnight in the history of football, the Premier League is now just days away from returning.

On the final day of internationals, four Liverpool players were involved in matches across three continents, so check out our roundup of how they all performed.

Alexis Mac Allister in action on Lionel Messi's night

The main event of the evening was Argentina's 3-0 friendly win over Benin at the Monumental. That's because, it was Lionel Messi's last match in la Albiceleste colours, converting a penalty to take his tally to 126 international goals, coming on the occasion of his 208th and final cap. Ranked 93rd in the world, les Guépards were never likely to spoil the party.

From a Liverpool perspective, Alexis Mac Allister started in Buenos Aires and completed 79 minutes, before being taken off late on. The 27 year old has started all three of Argentina's fixtures during this window, albeit they've not been the highest intensity matches, previously swatting aside Bolivia 4-0 and Burkina Faso 7-0, so he's unlikely to be overly fatigued.

Rio Ngumoha's Wembley debut

Over in the UEFA Nations League, England swatted aside Czechia 3-0 at Wembley. With 17 minutes remaining, Rio Ngumoha came off the bench, appearing at Wembley for the very first time. This was the teenager's third cap, debuting in a friendly against New Zealand in Tampa in June, before earning his competitive debut in Prague a week earlier.

Surprisingly, Eberechi Eze and Morgan Rogers were Thomas Tuchel's starting wingers, with Bukayo Saka and Anthony Gordon rested. Thus, there is plenty of competition for these spots, but Ngumoha is clearly in his plans.

Víctor Muñoz helps maintain Spain's perfect record

In the same group, Spain made it four wins out of four in the Nations League, fighting back from a goal down to defeat Croatia; Mikel Merino bagging both at Stadion Poljud off the bench. At the time of the 85th minute winner in Split, Víctor Muñoz was on the pitch.

The 23 year old has been introduced by Luis de la Fuente during each of la Roja's last three matches, replacing Lamine Yamal, as was the case on Tuesday night. Thus, being the deputy to one of the best players in the world may not be ideal, but the Spain coach clearly values what Muñoz can offer.

Ronald Araújo racking up the air miles

Lastly, Uruguay's busy international window concluded with a 6-1 demolition of India in Kolkata. Perhaps thankfully from a Liverpool perspective, Ronald Araújo remained an unused substitute at Salt Lake Stadium.

The defender had started la Celeste's two other matches in this window, a 3-1 defeat against Japan in Rifu and then a 4-1 win over Korea Republic in Seoul. Thus, the 27 year old does have a long flight back to Merseyside, but should not be excessively fatigued, having not played since 28 September, which is good news for Andoni Iraola.
