4 Liverpool Academy players to watch in 2024/25
Trent Kone-Doherty - 18 years old - W
The 18-year old Irish winger is one of the most exciting players in the Liverpool youth system. He was quickly rising through the ranks before getting hurt.
His season peaked when he made his run-out for the Liverpool U21 side and was an influential figure on more than one occasion.
On the ball, he is mesmerizing to watch and he plays with an aggressiveness and belief that a lot of his contemporaries do not yet have. His ability to create for himself and others is a strong asset for a wide attacking player such as Kone-Doherty.
He scored 25 goals with 5 assists across U18, U21 and the UEFA Youth League, highlighting his quality finishing and composure that belies his years. Kone-Doherty could very well be the first of this next Academy crop to break through in the first team.
Trey Nyoni - 17 years old - AM/F
The final player on this list is one that is becoming quite popular. Nyoni made his first team debut for Liverpool this season as a fresh-faced 16-year old.
Having only arrived last summer, he has risen through the ranks in short-order and the Reds are surely excited for what he can offer going forward.
Nyoni played 38 times across all youth levels in addition to his FA Cup appearance for Klopp. He is an explosive player that knows where he's going with the ball before he even gets it. He sees the weaknesses around him before they know it themselves.
His direct style of play is similar to what we see from Ben Doak which is not a bad comparison at all. Nyoni is always trying to drive his side forward and as he matures and grows into his body, his physical attributes will only be amplified.
Once his technical skills match what his body can handle, the sky is the absolute limit for him. Remember the name now and always.
