Mo Salah and Egypt kick off AFCON qualifiers
In what could've been an international defining moment in his career, an injury in the group stage forced Mo Salah from playing in the 2023 AFCON quarterfinals. With two heartbreaking AFCON finals losses in 2017 and 2021, the Egyptian star will be looking to finally claim Africa's biggest international trophy at AFCON 2025.
AFCON 2025 qualifiers kick off this September window, as Egypt and Mo Salah face Cape Verde on the 6th and Botswana on the 10th. Also in Salah's group is Mauritania, which Egypt will not face under the October international window.
Salah played two matches this summer with Egypt, in WCQ qualifying, assisting Mahmoud Trezeguet in a 2-1 win over Burkina Faso and scoring in a 1-1 draw against Guinea-Bissau.
In addition to hoping for top performances from the international Reds, supporters will also hope that all players remain healthy throughout the break as Liverpool continues to build something special under Arne Slot.
