Liverpool in the market for a fresh defender and Real have serious interest in TAA
We've reached midweek and the transfer rumors are beginning to ramp up in recent days around Liverpool Football Club in regards to players both coming and going.
As normal, I am here to bring you the biggest headlines and threads to follow to see what rumors are worth our time and what should quickly go by the wayside. Without further ado, let's dive right into the biggest transfer headlines.
Real Madrid showing real interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold
It was a rough Euro 2024 for Alexander-Arnold as he was pushed far down the England pecking order by the now former manager Gareth Southgate.
He played only 5 minutes throughout the entire knockout stages as the Three Lions made a run to the Final before falling in heartbreaking fashion to Spain.
It's long been expected that Liverpool are going to secure their vice-captain to a long-term contract as he is entering the final year of his deal at Anfield. While I still expect that to happen, Spanish superpowers Real Madrid are said to be looking long and intently at Trent.
Reports have surfaced that Alexander-Arnold and Real have been in contact for about a month now. Spending the entirety of the Euros with his best mate Jude Bellingham, a current star at Madrid, means there might be some extra angst among the Liverpool brass.
It still seems very unlikely, but it seems like a good time for the Reds to lock down No. 66 and move forward.
Goncalo Inacio is once again on Liverpool's radar
The talented 22-year old Portuguese defender has been linked to the Reds for over a year now as his stock has only risen over the past 12 months.
However, as we all know, a defender is needed at Anfield this summer and Inacio is a player that fits the perfect bill for Arne Slot and his plans. Slot has spoken to the higher-ups at Liverpool driving home the need for a defender.
His ability on the ball in combination with his physical gifts will make him a truly elite addition to the Liverpool defense.
His Sporting CP contract contains a £52m release clause which is more than reasonable for a player of his ilk. There could be something here if Liverpool just gets things moving and do not leave it too late in the summer.
Marc Guehi a viable option for the Reds
There is another central defender that could be making the move to the Red-half of Merseyside as Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi is said to be a strong candidate for Michael Edwards to swoop in and sign.
Guehi was one of England's shining stars at the Euros so he and his club could both be looking to strike while the iron is hot.
His Premier League experience would be a major boost if a move were to happen as there would be no transition needed. However, with Slot still being so new, there will be an extended learning curve for new arrivals as everything is slightly altered from the last decade.
The club is reportedly confident in their chances to sign Guehi and I would very much be onboard with the move if it happens.
Going after a player they have gone against several times and knows them well would be a smart bit of business for a club in a bit of a transition. Follow this one close.
