Liverpool have had a tremendous season, as they currently sit top of the Premier League table. Spirits are high after Darwin Nunez netted late on in Nottingham to secure a further three points for Jurgen Klopp, in the German manager's final season as Liverpool boss.

During his tenure in the North of England, Jurgen Klopp has developed some truly incredible players. Thinking back to players to have exceeded all expectation at Anfield Stadium in the last decade, not many can top Andrew Robertson.

The Scotsman was signed from Hull City and he has turned into one of the best full-backs the Premier League has ever seen. However, he is currently being linked with a move to Bayern Munich, as the Bavarians seek a replacement for their departing left-back Alphonso Davies.

From Liverpool's perspective, they won't want to lose Andrew Robertson. The ball is in their court too, since they have two years remaining on Robertson's current deal. However, they would like to bolster their security and further deter Bayern Munich's approach. That said, Liverpool plan to open talks with Andy Robertson over a contract extension, according to Football Insider.

It is believed that the talks will commence once Liverpool have found their new manager and sporting director. Still, they have yet to secure the successor for Jurgen Klopp once his legendary tenure comes to an end. It is a decision the club wish to take slowly and with precaution, given the empire which Klopp has built since he arrived from Borussia Dortmund.

Given that Robertson is one of the players who Klopp developed, it goes without saying that the German would want him to continue his legacy at Anfield. Robertson is already a club legend, but it could be a parting gift to Klopp that the club secures the long-term services of Robertson, who still has a lot to give at 29 years old.
