Liverpool bounced back from disappointment at the weekend to kickstart their Champions League campaign with an impressive 3-1 victory over AC Milan at the San Siro.

The Reds conceded inside five minutes but from that point on they were running the show and were clear and deserved winners in the end. It's a great response that Arne Slot will love to see from his team.

Let's take a look to see how Liverpool rated in the Champions League opening win.

Alisson Becker - 6/10 - As much action as we saw in this one, there was not a lot for Alisson to do throughout. He was beaten by a top class finish but otherwise he was largely just, there.

Trent Alexander-Arnold - 7.5/10 - His wonderful free kick created the first Liverpool goal and he did a bang up job defending the electric Rafael Leao. He was spraying passes all over and was a creative hub.

Ibrahima Konate - 8/10 - The big Frenchman continued his fine form as he out jumped everyone for his goal making it look effortless. He did very well in several defensive moments and looks to be back to his very best.

Virgil van Dijk - 8/10 - The Captain got in on the scoring act himself with a confident header from a corner and he outmuscled Alvaro Morata all night long. His 50th UCL game for Liverpool and he looks as good as ever.

Kostas Tsimikas - 6/10 - He got an assist on the VVD goal but outside of that it was not the best night. He was caught way too far up for the Milan goal, was woeful with three shot attempts that never came close and all-around did not look wholly confident.

Alexis Mac Allister 7.5/10 - Playing in his first Champions League match Mac Allister rose to the occasion and was a tempo master in the midfield. He was always in the perfect spot to receive the ball or to create space for someone else. Sterling night.

Ryan Gravenberch - 8.5 /10 - Alongside Macca, helped win control of the midfield and dominate proceedings. He was everywhere once again winning the ball back and pushing forward as his pass began the move for the third goal. Budding star.

Dominik Szoboszlai - 7/10 - Used some very deft touch to get his first-time finish right to truly ice the game away for the Reds. A more encouraging outing but some work is still needed.

Mohamed Salah - 7.5/10 - Could have had a truly brilliant evening were it not for hitting the woodwork on two separate occasions. A hugely improved performance from Saturday as he was back to his menacing best on the wing and Milan will be glad to see the back of No. 11.

Diogo Jota - 6/10 - Should have scored from a great pass from Mac Allister but somehow put the ball wide. Back-to-back average outings as his momentum seems to be slipping away. Largely invisible.

Cody Gakpo - 8.5/10 - Got the start and made the most of his chance with a sensational night as he was running at the Milan defense relentlessly. Created chances for himself and others capped by a fine assist for Szobo to score. Very confident display from the Dutchman .

SUBS:

Darwin Nunez - 6.5/10 - Got in on the action as best he could after coming on and made some dangerous moves. Should probably start next match.

Luis Diaz - 6/10 - A somewhat surprising exclusion from the XI and he did not have much to do after coming on with the game already won.

Joe Gomez - 5.5/10 - We have a Gomez sighting! Was dutiful in defense for the dying minutes.

Wataru Endo - N/A - Stoppage time cameo.

Federico Chiesa - N/A - His first few official seconds as a Liverpool player.
