It turned into quite the enjoyable weekend for Liverpool Football Club as they ran out comfortable winners over Manchester United on Saturday and the fine form of Fabio Carvalho continued.

As we begin another week, as ever, I'm here with some of the biggest news headlines form over the weekend that you should know about. A Liverpool stalwart addressed his future and there is always transfer links to talk about.

Here we go!

The cavalry arrives for preseason training

It has been as perfect of a preseason as Arne Slot could have hoped for to begin his Reds tenure. The club is racking up wins against quality opponents and he is seeing some fringe players perform very well.

His mood should only improve with the arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Cody Gakpo for preseason meaning he has a few more established stars he can work with.

These players are going to have huge roles to play this season and beyond as Liverpool makes the transition to life under Slot. Gakpo in particular is coming off a strong showing at Euro 2024 and he will be eager to carry over that momentum and confidence.

With Mohamed Salah and Harvey Elliott playing well on hte US Tour, adding these great assets will be a nice concoction.

I expect them to hit the ground running and it'll be interesting to see how much the coaching staff pushes them early on.

Liverpool rejects Fabio Carvalho offer

The young attacking midfielder is having a stellar preseason as he has scored goals against Arsenal and Manchester United while starting all three games on the US tour.

This is a crucial summer for Carvalho as he is coming on a crossroads in his Reds career where one path takes him on a path of viability at the club and the other takes him away for good.

In reference of that, the club rejected a £15 million bid from Southampton for his services. Slot has really liked what he's seen from Fabio and it appears he might get his chance to shine this season in some capacity.

While you can never confidently rule out a transfer, it seems like it will take a huge offer for the club to sanction a move for one of their brightest young talents who is clearly playing well.

If he keeps this level up over time, it will be hard for a sale to be justified from a Liverpool perspective and that might not be a bad thing.

Liverpool shines on US Tour

The Reds defeated the likes of Real Betis, Arsenal and Manchester United while in the United States, all while the majority of their star players were absent.

This was a very constructive time for Slot and his staff to see what else he had to work with beyond the same familiar names we all know and love. Elliott, Carvalho and van den Beg have played quite well as has Jarell Quansah so it's gone super well.

We have seen flashes of what "Arne ball" would look like and it seems very enticing indeed. The only concern is an injury to Andy Robertson but outside of that it was a healthy time where lots of youngsters also had their chance to play against some high end teams.

Two clean sheets is also a positive sign for hte kind of defending we will be expecting on a more consistent basis this season.
