We have arrived at the kickoff of Euro 2024 and the excitement around the footballing world is more than palpable.

As is the norm, I'm here to get you caught up with the biggest news headlines around Liverpool as we head into a weekend full of international action. A Liverpool starlet is praised while the Reds No. 8 is about to break a historic record.

Let's dive right in!

Szoboszlai to set European Championships record

The 23-year old Hungarian star is primed to set a very impressive record once his side kicks off their Euro campaign on Saturday.

Dominik Szoboszlai is the captain of his nation and when he wears the armband in their first fixture of the competition he will become the youngest Captain in the history of the European Championship since its 1960 inception.

That is a stunning record and one that he can absolutely be proud of. It is a reflection of his leadership and maturity at such a young age that he is able to lead his country into such a massive event.

While his club form was not the best as the season wrapped up, Szoboszlai is a different player when he pulls on the Hungary shirt and he will be eager to remind the world just what he is capable of from the jump.

A strong showing from him as a record setting captain would be something he could cherish forever going forward.

Conor Bradley's Northern Ireland teammate sees him becoming a superstar

By now, it is no secret how impressive a player Bradley is at just 20-years old. He stepped in wonderfully when Trent Alexander-Arnold went down and has not looked back.

However, it is also his performances with the Northern Ireland national team that have many fans and pundits purring over his future credentials. Following a two goal outing against Andorra, his national team teammate Brodie Spencer was in awe and predicted a world class future.

""Conor Bradley is going to go on to be one of the best players in the world, the season he has had, he’s been absolutely unbelievable and to be able to play alongside him is so good. It’s such a relief for me playing at centre back and just having him beside me."

While we don't want to heap a mountain of pressure on the young lad, his near flawless play and maturity beyond his years makes it hard to not at least consider the possibilities.

Fingers crossed one day he will get to play in a Euro of his own with Northern Ireland.

No official bid from Al-Nassr for Virgil van Dijk

Despite several media outlets overnight suggesting that the Saudi Pro League club were ramping up efforts to make van Dijk the highest paid defender in the world, there has been no contact between the sides.

Liverpool remain keen on extending their captain this summer and having him usher in the Arne Slot era going forward.

The Saudi Pro League is eager to continue adding starpower to their league as they look to grow their brand globally. However, it would take an absurd amount of money to get the Reds to even think about coming to the table on this one.

Van Dijk is currently focused on leading the Netherlands in Euro 2024 and nothing more should come of this.
