3. Riccardo Calafiori - Bologna
As Rush the Kop covered earlier, Bologna's Riccardo Calafiori is on Liverpool's shortlist for defenders this summer. The Italian centre-back has seen a rapid rise in his game this past season, helping Bologna qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 1964. His success with Bologna helped him earn his first call-up to the Azzurri last month, and he is now a starter at the Euros. In their most recent match against Spain, Riccardo found himself at the end of an unfortunate own goal that would give Spain the 1-0 win.
The former Roma defender has garnered significant interest from other clubs this summer, with Liverpool reportedly ready to step up their interest in Calafiori. Corriere di Bologna reports that the Reds are now in "accelerating talks" to sign Calafioro from Bologna. It is unlikely that Bologna will sell Calafiori to Liverpool before the Euros end, as the price for the defender could still increase if he can help Italy achieve Euro glory.
