Predicted Liverpool Starting XI for Champions League second leg versus PSG

Arne Slot has a stern challenge ahead of him in the form of a red-hot PSG side for the second leg. What will his lineup look like?

Liverpool will look to book a place in the 2025 Champions League Quarterfinals with a good performance in the second leg of their Round of 16 knockout tie with Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds escaped the French capital last week with a smash and grab 1-0 victory from an otherworldly night by Alisson Becker and two super subs in Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott making magic at the end.

With that in mind, Arne Slot will still feel an improved performance will be needed by his squad at Anfield for a beautiful UCL night that we all cherish.

The players he fields might give a glimpse into what style we see them play. So, let's take a look at my predicted Starting XI for Liverpool on Tuesday night.

Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson

Midfielders: Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai

Forwards: Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz

Possible Subs: Cody Gakpo, Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliott, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones

Alisson starts because Alisson starts, c'mon now. He will be needed once again, just hopefully not nearly as much as he was last week.

The defense has the main quartet get the start and Robbo having only played a half against Southampton at the weekend, should be extra rested.

Both fullbacks will once again need to be locked in to deal with the constant and talented threat provided by the likes of Barcola, Dembele and Kvaratskhelia. Konate and van Dijk will also be tasked with taking on a lot of the physical challenges.

The midfield is the standard trio, despite Macca struggling to make an impact in the first leg. He is too talented to not start in a match of this magnitude and I fully expect a better outing from him.

The same goes for Gravenberch who was bypassed too many times in the first meeting and if he is remotely close to on level, that could mean we see a very different Liverpool throughout.

Szoboszlai who came off at halftime on Saturday should be good to go in this one and he will try and make a lasting impact.

Salah gets the start once again as he will be eager to atone for a rather pedestrian first leg where he was invisible for large portions of the game. Darwin gets the start as he has been in fine form over the last two matches and he caused PSG problems when he came on.

Cody Gakpo is fit again but should not be started so Diaz gets the nod here. Liverpool can do this, but it won't be easy, no matter who starts.
